ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Artistic creation is similar to alchemy. While there are no set measurements involved, the act of artistic creation follows a mysterious recipe. I create art with this in mind. My artistic practice is not only a process of construction, but also one of discovery.

I employ biomorphic abstraction and Surrealist theory to painting, collage, and bookmaking. This work explores sensory and emotional reactions to place and environment. The perception of our environment and ourselves is influenced by our physiological and psychological nature. Life and the human experience are discerned by both conscious and unconscious reactions. Through the use of color, texture, and organic forms I attempt to explore and depict these various influences and reactions. My work and process can be seen as meditations on how one's perception of reality is shaped by multiple factors.
